MI GUDU  RIVER CRUISES SURINAME
The schedule of a five day roundtrip in West Surinam will be as follows:

Day 1. (idem to Nickerietrip)
I
n the morning we pick you up in Paramaribo for a bus travel to plantation Kweeklust at Groningen. Here you board Mi Gudu, where you will be cordially welcomed by our friendly, motivated and helpful crew. Then and there, on the border of the beautiful Saramaccariver, your five days' adventure starts. We sail down the  the Saramacca river where you can admire, hidden between the rich vegetation of the overgrown plantations, the  elegant country houses of rich city people.

Then we head fort the settlement of Batavia where we  moor. In the afternoon we visit this place of pilgrimage, where once a colony of lepers lived, which was taken care of by the formal pope blessed Petrus Donders. We pay a visit to his formal grave and to the lovely little church. The king palms, in which the monkeys play and the huge yellow-blue  macaw nest. At dawn you will see them fly by the hundreds – always in pairs. If the weather is fine, we’ll fill a cool box with drinks and little bites to eat. Then we’ll stroll over to the little creeck at the end of the resort to enjoy nature and have a little swim.  Here we stay for the night. Sailing trip time: approx. 6 ½ hour.
Day 2. (idem to Nickerietrip)

After a firm breakfast we continue our journey. It’ll  takes us, give or take, one hour on the Coppenameriver,  when we make a turn to the right, up on the intensely meandering  Wayombo river, much more narrow and therefor much more intimate. Because now you can you watch the birds, monkeys and alligators much better. Today you can really relax on board of the ship, have a look in our library or enjoy a sunbath on tot of the roof. At the end of the afternoon we moor at the domestic village of Corneliskondre with its approximately hundred inhabitants. We land and make a rural walk with the local guide Ruben. You will be introduced to the captain and the basya (the mayor and his assistant) of the settlement and you will meet some of the inhabitants and taste the atmosphere of a simple Indian village where tourists hardly ever come. Corneliskondre has been neatly maintained and there are blooming bushes everywhere.. After  diner you’ll have the opportunity to attend an authentic cultural dancing performance, you will find that the dancers are so overzealous  that it’s almost impossible to make them stop. But with some liters of Parbo beer you do stand a chance!. Sailing trip time: approx. 6 hours.

Day 3.
In the early morning we will explore the hinterland of  Corneliskondre, our guide Ruben will give an  explanation concerning several plants, the medical powers and the way in which they are used in the village. After this morning walk we will spent  the day enjoying the untouched nature of the Wayambo river, we’ll have enough opportunities to swim, relax and  make trips in the motorized dinghy. We will anchor at a beautiful spot on the river.

Day 4.
In the morning we will turn back to the Coppenameriver and we will pay a visit to the indigenous  fisherman’s village called Kalabaskreek. Since this village is relatively close to the civilized world the inhabitants have already developed some tourist attractions. They have built a rather comfortable tourist sleep accommodation, so backpackers can stay there for several days. Highlight of your visit will be the  swamp tour. You will walk over thick tree trunks carrying two long poles on either side of your body to keep you in balance. Mind you, the walk is spectacular, but you will return all muddy and wet, no doubt about it! Normally  mosquitoes aren’t a big menace on our Mi Gudu trips, but for the swamptour we do recommend good walkingshoes, trousers and shirts with long sleeves. And when you return, you can undress at the spot, the washing machine will help you out and, scouts honor, the crew won’t look!
Day 5.
We travel back over the Copenameriver and turn right sailing upstream  the Saramaccariver. Here you will be served a copious lunch, so you won’t leave Mi Gudu empty stomached. It’s time to pack your bags, exchange addresses with fellow passengers and throw us your compliments in our guestbook!  At the end of the afternoon we reach plantation Kweeklust where you will all disembark. Our bus will take you back to Paramaribo (unless you prefer to stay in the rural district of Saramacca; we already we have four vacation homes under construction in the front yard. A  swimming pool will be our next project.
